This new extension to a 19th century cottage is located in the spectacular setting of Portavadie, and is designed to take advantage of the open aspect of the sea view.
Central to the design is a glazed corner window. This offers clear views of the rugged West coast landscape, providing great proximity to nature and the elements, whilst in the comfort of the cottage.
The new extension aims to form a meaningful connection the with existing dwelling, further reinforced with internal and external alterations where old and new spaces seamlessly merge making the house more liveable.
Included in the brief was a refit of the existing cottage interior to bring it up to par with the finish of the new extension. The roof tiles were also completely replaced and stonework was re-pointed to prevent water ingress which was taking place in the external walls.
The extension accommodates an open plan kitchen and dining space with a bedroom and bathroom to the rear.
