About

Hive Design Studio is a young, ambitious Glasgow based building design practice. Our aim is to design well considered, elegant architecture that responds appropriately to site and function, whilst also being detailed with the highest level of care and precision.

We believe it is fundamentally important that a rigorous and well thought out design process is applied to all projects, regardless of scale, site or building type. Such an approach will result in an enhanced experience of the building whilst also adding value to the project.

It is important to us to be aware of technological progression and strive to stay at the forefront of construction and design methods. Utilising this technology helps ensure our projects are conceived and realised as efficiently as possible.

Although many of our past projects have been residential, we are enthusiastic about working in any area of architecture. We have also completed projects in landscape design, public space and large scale commercial sectors.

A Collaborative Approach

An architectural project is an amalgamation of many elements to form a cohesive whole, not just the work of the designer. We believe that communication is key to a successful end result. We encourage dialogue between ourselves and client, contractor, planner and building control officer to improve the standard of the realised design.

Client input is encouraged by allowing ideas to be easily shared through programs such as Drop Box, ensuring the design takes on any inspiration or style preferences.

Embracing Technology

Staying at the forefront of technological advances and utilising them effectively is an important part of our working method. Computer processes and software do not replace traditional design techniques or creative thought, but are used in conjunction with them.

Parametric and BIM software can help create design solutions that were previously unattainable. We also champion construction techniques such as digital fabrication which speed up the production of complex construction drawings and improve the efficiency of work on-site.
