table-restaurant-glasgowThe client’s ambitious vision for Thairiffic offered an exciting opportunity to design a contemporary restaurant with an authentic Thai twist.

The project involved an internal and external refurbishment and internal fit-out of a derelict restaurant situated in a prominent B-listed urban block on Sauchiehall street, Glasgow. Traditional Thai textile and floral patterns were used to dress and authenticate feature elements in a contemporary fashion.

restaurant-glasgow-9The use of light and texture creates a sequence of different atmospheric spaces, which directs diners from the two ground-floor frontages, up individual feature staircases into the reception/bar area.

The dining area is minimal but sophisticated in its design and integrates the historic cornicing, ceiling and skirting. Seating is arranged to be flexible and caters for groups of different sizes.

A branding exercise was also carried out resulting in an Orchid inspired logo and strongly identifiable shop frontage.
